Merry Christmas to all our beautiful friends and family!

Christmas is one of our favourite times of the year as we absolutely love celebrating with our friends and family, as well as baking and then eating lots! Another year is coming to an end and we are so blessed to look back on it and reflect on what an amazing year 2014 has been. We have definitely been saying “that was the best one yet!”

This was our first year of really being out in the real, real world, as we moved out into our own flat at the beginning of the year and Callum started his first job out of university working at Tangible Media with Idealog magazine, as well as doing social media contracting, getting to work on brands such as Tasti, and Durex... February was The Crazy Month, with Callum starting his job, Joe and Janelle got married, we moved house and then we went on our trip to Bali. Even though it was so crazy, the timing was so perfect, as our Bali trip we had booked at the end of 2013, ended up being just one week after we moved house. It was such a dream and we had the most amazing time getting to relax before we got straight back into it all! While we were on our Bali trip, we celebrated our second wedding anniversary!! Seriously, where has that time gone?! We spent the day exploring Ubud, trying to cool down and dodging groping monkeys…

The next part of our year was super fun, getting used to working full time rather than studying, and making the most of opportunities that arose from Callum’s work (media benefits…)! Our sweet little cat Friday also had to adjust to us not being at home for many hours in a day as we were no longer university students. We think that she was secretly really stoked because she could do whatever she wanted for the whole day (ie she wasn’t forced to snuggle).

In April, Callum started on his journey to jaw surgery, by getting his wisdom teeth removed and then getting braces again! We are expecting his jaw surgery to be mid-2015, so watch this space. We even created a hash tag for it! #fixcallumsface. And then our luck with dental work continued as Victoria had a super fun root canal! We often joke/cry that the cost of all our dental work/orthodontic work would be a deposit on a house.

August became The Crazy Month Second Edition, as in the space of a week it was Callum’s birthday and we got to spend the day on Waiheke eating amazing food and drinking lots of wine, we both graduated, then went away to Wellington (a surprise present for Callum from Victoria) and had Callum’s 21st! Our graduation was very special for us too, as we got to receive our Bachelors of Business one after the other. Also in August, Victoria started her new job at Bunnings working as a Buyers Assistant. This was a huge deal, not only because now we both were working in areas we wanted to be working in, but for the first time since we got married, we could actually spend weekends together! Two days off together in a row!! What a treat!!

Sadly, in August, Callum’s beloved Granddad Frank passed away. Frank was the sweetest man, and his funeral reflected his amazing character, and how loved he was by everyone. We were so lucky, and cherish the memory of him coming along to our graduation not long before he passed away and we love the handsome smiles that he had in the photos from that day.

Although there have been sad times this year, they were constantly surrounded by good things happening. Another exciting achievement this year was in September when Victoria was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honour society, recognizing excellence in business. The invitation to join Beta Gamma Sigma stemmed from the marks Victoria had received at university, so we were both really proud of this achievement. Then in October, Callum received a promotion at work which saw him go from Digital Administrator to Digital Content Manager!

This year has been amazing as we have tried to make the most out of every opportunity possible (we have done a lot of things and haven’t spent many evenings at home!). One of these was at the start of December, Callum spent two days in the South Island, driving brand new Lexus’s from Dunedin to Queenstown and even around a race track! He seems to have developed a love for expensive cars now…

We love that this year, our family has expanded and we have made new friends who we think are super cool. Our friends and family mean so much to us, and we absolutely love spending time with all of you and making so many memories with you.

A Christmas Party with our friends this year

We hope that this Christmas brings you lots of love, lots of laughs and lots of good food!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the Sweeney’s.
